McPhilamy ADR provides alternative dispute resolution services in mediation, arbitration, early evaluation, and negotiation for individuals and organizations. McPhilamy ADR, based in the Los Angeles Metropolitan Area, administers cases throughout the U.S. and internationally, offering in-person, telephonic, and online services. Practice areas include banking, business, commercial, corporate, employment, insurance coverage and bad faith, intellectual property, personal injury, property damage, real estate, and unlawful detainer.
W. Patrick McPhilamy, III, the firm's principal, works in the alternative dispute resolution space as an ADR attorney, and he is available for appointment as a mediator, an arbitrator, and a negotiator in the firm's practice areas. With a varied experience in litigation and transactions, spanning over three decades, he has expertise in dispute resolution, alternative dispute resolution mechanisms, and transactional matters. He is an accredited mediator and a chartered arbitrator.
Additionally, Mr. McPhilamy has a rich experience in business, having served on boards of directors of several organizations, including for-profit and non-profit entities, over the past two decades in the U.S. and abroad.
Mr. McPhilamy holds fellowships with several international mediation centers and is a Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, London, UK. He is also the Resident Representative of California for ADR ODR International and is an Ambassador for Arbitrator Intelligence.
Harvard-trained with expertise in mediation and negotiation, Mr. McPhilamy holds a Certificate in Mediation and Conflict Management, a Certificate in Negotiation and Dispute Resolution, and a Certificate for a Negotiation Master Class from Harvard Law School, and a Certificate in Negotiation Mastery from Harvard Business School Online.
An award-winner, Mr. McPhilamy speaks and lectures internationally on topics related to mediation, arbitration, negotiation, and world peace. He has previously served as a judge or expert evaluator for numerous mediation, arbitration, and negotiation competitions in the U.S. and internationally, and for national trial competitions in the U.S.
Mr. McPhilamy holds a Master of Law degree from the University of Cambridge, a Juris Doctor degree from California Western School of Law, and a Bachelor of Science degree from Virginia Commonwealth University. He received a Diploma from the Institute on International and Comparative Law in London, held at the University of London through the auspices of the University of San Diego School of Law. He studied law for a summer at the University of Oxford, and languages for a number of years in the U.S., U.K., Europe, and China.
For the past five years, he has volunteered his time as a court-connected mediator in the Superior Court of California, Los Angeles County, and as an ambassador and glean team leader for a local non-profit organization dedicated to providing hunger relief to individuals in need.
